Glimpses of discord

Have stridently begun to chime

Shifting borders and tensions escalating

Geo politics seems to be

On a turbulent ride

       Strengthening diplomatic ties

An arduous task, nations strive to forge

Now, has become a fragile thread of trust

Curated and amended as per whims of some

The whiff of third world war lingers in the air

As Russia and Gaza extends its reach

Resilience shines through the shadows of trial and tears

Of people in Ukraine and Israel

    Quest for power and control

                       Is indeed a precarious game

Pulling nations into the treacherous trap of

Inflation, debt, instability and trauma

Adding woes and unimaginable pain to bear

War is capable of turning vibrant cities

             Once bustling with life

             To rubble, dust and stones

     In an age of opinions

Why has love for freedom and democracy

Become an anathema for some?

Has human mind become so enfeeble?

Has forgotten to rationalize and realize

       In the struggle for power’s deceitful reign

      It’s the innocent who face the wrath of pain

What about the woman, who lost her martyred son,

A daughter awaiting heroic father’s return

Those countless lugubrious faces?

Left to endure the pain war inflicted.

Sometimes in the name of religion and sometimes ambition

Wars are only means to satisfy

One’s  rapacious   mission.

Bound together in our existence

Loss of one can never be compensated by the gain of another

It’s time we realize

Our lives are indissolubly inextricable

And fate intertwined

Let empathy and unity thrive

For humanity  to survive.
